We were walking away from Slow Ride for the last time. She was in perfect shape. Free beer on the dock. A dinghy parade to a sandbar waiting every week. The whole thing was finally humming. And we left anyway. This is the real inventory of what eighteen months on the water actually gave us — and why we are already thinking about doing it again.
After eighteen months of boat life, we had two truths living side by side. We were tired. Like deep-in-the-bones, Post Boat Stress Disorder tired. And we had been waking up every morning to some of the most beautiful water in the world. Boat tired. Soul full. This is the story of how we knew it was time to let go, and why leaving well is also a brave decision.
